Lord Lieutenant's Presentation at 2414 Squadron
The
Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad OBE visited 2414
(East Kilbride) ATC Squadron on Monday 12 December 2011. The
purpose of the visit was to present the Lord Lieutenant's
Certificates of Meritorious Service to Flight Lieutenant D
MacMillan RAFVR(T), OC 2414, and Flying Officer D McVean
RAFVR(T), 498 Squadron.
Flt
Lt MacMillan (pictured below) has been in the Air Training Corps
for 22 years, starting as a cadet at East Kilbride Squadron at the
age of 13. During this time within the organisation he attained the
rank of Cadet Warrant Officer, Adult Warrant Officer in 1991 and
received his Commission in 1997. Since then he has held the role of
Commanding Officer of two squadrons, initially at Lanark Squadron
(449) and now presently at East Kilbride Squadron
(2414).
The
Lord Lieutenant was greeted by a parade and enjoyed a drill
display, presentations and spoke with the Squadron's cadets. He was
pleased to learn further about the Air Training Corps and
understand the Squadron's role within the local and wider
community.
